19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

Idea Napkin No. 2

·      Me:
o   I’m Matt Roof, I am majoring in Information Systems at the University of Florida. I think that I have an exceptional ability to create ideas and then assess the problems involved with these ideas and critique and perfect my own aspirations on my own while still realizing that the feedback of others is incredibly essential because it opens these ideas up to different perspectives. I am aspiring to create this app in order to be some sort of precaution taken by individuals seeking medical attention. In my own personal life, I have seen people fall victim to very unclear medical situations in which this uncertainty caused panic and the outcome was a poor decision. Creating this app would give myself peace of mind knowing that members of my own demographic as well as every global citizen have a better way to assess medical situations.
·      What am I offering?:
o   I’m offering an app that would allow those who have the app to select a questionnaire that would be customized for different situations that would help them make decisions in times of medical emergency. All of my customers share human error. No one can make a perfect decision consistently and this app would just aid users in figuring out the correct course of action to take.
·      Why do they care?:
o   My costumers care because logical, mentally stable humans care for others. No one wants to see others in pain or undergo unnecessary injury. If this app would prove to be beneficial, many people would consider using it as it would be beneficial to everyone’s health.
·      What are my core competencies?:
o   I think that while being a college student and knowing individuals in the medical field I have seen how misjudged situations have caused poorer circumstances for those involved. I realize this issue and would like to use this realization to help people who might not be comfortable making decisions for other people’s health.
·      Feedback Memo:
o   In one of the feedback comments I received, I was asked if I knew anyone with medical expertise that could aid me in creating these questionnaires. For my 20A assignment, I have looked further into this, reaching out to an EMT as well as my own Pediatrician. I have also taken into consideration the types of questions asked when setting up online conferences with doctors through apps such as “DoctorOnDemand”.
o   My other feedback comment was more-so of a reinforcement of my prior ideas presented on my “napkin”. It reassured me that our age group (18-25) is one of naivety. It is very tough for us to make clear decisions especially in times of extreme stress.

  1. Hi Matthew,
I like the questionnaire idea for the app. Making it really easy to read and interpret could be really beneficial for those who don't know much about medical emergencies. Sometimes the medical terms are too complicated and we really don't know what we're dealing with but "dumbing" it down could really help the demographic you're aiming at.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Tess

  2. Hey Matthew, I really like the way you used the feedback from the previous assignment to enhance your idea napkin. I believe that your product can really assist people in making the right decisions when a medical emergency around them arises. Using the quick questionnaire can limit the gap of not knowing what is wrong with a person. In the future, I would like to see this idea tested out and potentially save lives.
