25A What's Next?

25A – What’s Next?

Existing Market:

After interviewing three people that represent my existing market I began to understand a few more areas in which I should expand my app (venture) in order to encompass a broader customer basis. One of my interviewees informed me that while my app offers a great solution to those with a huge unmet need for medical assistance I could still reach out to a broader base with a simple addition. He informed me that it would be very beneficial to reach out to local hospitals and eventually hospitals across the nation in order to allow a section of my app to include an on call assistance option. While I could potentially offer this system with employees to my venture it would be superior for me to offer a direct line to medical professionals working at the locations in which these situations would be treated.

My second interviewee gave me some similar information regarding moving forward. While she works at the hospital of my local town she informed me that Doctors and Nurses that work at hospitals would be the most optimal source for getting information for my questions in my app. I should figure out what types of symptoms regularly deem one worthy of needing emergency medical assistance while being common across multiple diseases and injuries, like vomiting or blood in urine.

My third interviewee gave me information regarding the technological portion of my venture. While he works with a multitude of many upcoming entrepreneurs he tried to give me some advice towards making sure that my app ran smoothly and could reach the most exposure possible. He told me that there are a lot of apps that allow the downloader to “facetime” a registered Doctor to find out more about their symptoms in order to get prescriptions for their medical situations. He told me that if I could seamlessly integrate some sort of system in which my app could also include this type of feature I would be benefitting those in need of assistance regarding medical emergencies as well as general diagnoses like the common cold.

I think that all of the information I received from my interviewees is incredibly crucial to my process for moving forward. All of these aspects are something that an app could definitely include without needing a huge overhaul of resources because it’s all digital information. If I could continue to network with people in the medical and technological markets, I would be able to get the most out of my app.

If I want to be successful with my venture, I definitely cannot settle with being successful in one small portion of the medical market. There are so many variables that go into what makes those in this market successful By incorporating all of those aspects I can make sure to cover those bases, even if it wouldn’t be as precise as focusing on one single aspect of the market.

New Market:

For my new market I decided to tend to a different part of the medical market by targeting a different demographic. I decided to look towards the part of the medical market regarding medical shuttles to hospitals. These shuttles are crucial for many people that don’t have transportation to reach medical assistance.

My first interviewee was someone who regularly uses medical shuttles to get to the hospital. They informed me that it might be difficult because a lot of older people don’t know how to use technology very well. However, if I’m able to make my app incredibly user friendly all around I should be able to make the app cater to elderly in need of a shuttle to the hospital for routine visits.

My second interviewee was also on the technological side of app development and gave me a great idea. I could use a similar interface to the app that UF students use for RTS busses. If I just create a map that showcases the routes of different shuttles and their destinations, customers could regularly check my app for the most convenient shuttle in order to reach their appointment.

I wasn’t really expecting much from expanding my borders. I really thought that my intended use for my app would cover everything that I had wanted to get out of this venture. I think that by looking towards the different areas of my market I can really add some benefit to my venture. While this wouldn’t be a complete overhaul to my app by any means, it would definitely add a great portion of customer-base that would be incredibly helpful.

I think that after looking at this extra portion of the market I can really make a great use of that customer-base. If I successfully add these demographics and unmet needs to my app’s intended use, I can create a very successful interface for all my users. It was something I wasn’t really expecting. I thought that I was 100% covered by my initial intentions with the app. However, it seems as though I have a lot to learn and there is a lot I can add to my venture.
